Lost season 5 – Does anyone still care?
So Lost is finally coming back, after what seems like about a year. The real question is: do people still care? Will you watch? Do you even remember what is going on with the show? It’s hard to believe a once popular show can come back strong after that much time off. We shall see.
Hopefully all the regulars come back here to give their take on the new shows!
Here’s the sneek peak at the first episode:

So here we go again…I will not waste time commenting on why Lost sucks in general, I will only comment on how lame that preview scene was. First, If a court ordered a blood sample be taken, they would not send the suing party’s lawyer to go and collect it. Second, the suing lawyer would not be able to keep the identiy of their client secret. Even if a judge ordered a gag-rule on the case, a defendent has the right to know all parties involved in a case. This is more of J.J.’s crap. I have a feeling the show will open with about 9 million viewers and then settle in around 5-6 million viewers for the remainder of the season. By the way, who else is pretty sure J.J. is going to destroy Star Trek? By this I don’t just mean ruin the new movie, but kill Star Trek and end it as a viable franchise.
If JJ doesn’t kill it, then guest-star Tyler Perry will. Can’t wait for Tyler Perry’s Madea to show up in Tyler Perry’s guest-shot and start swinging around Tyler Perry’s phaser before someone tells her that this isn’t Tyler Perry’s House of Payne or Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns.
How do you know that they even are lawers? How do you know that they were sent by a judge? My guess is that it is someone from the island sending these two men to scare Kate to get her to go back on the run and she will ultimately have to go back to the island to get away.
He’s a lawyer in real life. Who says he isn’t another person on the side? Remember a TV show the same producers did called Alias? Ring a bell? Sydney was a quaint little bank teller to her friends and the outside “real” world, and in reality was working for what she thought was the CIA doing special-ops assignments.
Great to see you back BigJim! Amazing, if this 2 minute clip is already so sucky, image what a full season will bring.
And yes, say goodbye to Star Trek as we know it.
Locke is in a box. Its a locke box, ha ha ha ha ha hah hahahhahahhahahah
Once again, their magic number is 10…..that is 10 million viewers per week. If their ratings fall below that, this show is in trouble.
The ratings consistently declined last season as the weeks wore on, save the finale since it was the only original scripted show left on the air.
I’m thinking it will probably start out at 13 million and slide to 10 by week 5. If they fall below that, we may not have to worry about the “next” season.
Except, way back in season three they renewed it for the final three seasons. They cut the number of episode down from 24 episodes a year to 16 episodes a year, but it’s already going to *get* a sixth season.
Nothing is ever guaranteed if your ratings plummet. At the time when the “extended” seasons, the network execs never dreamed that Lost would have sunk so low so fast.
The general hype seems to be down, oddly.
What’s up with all this Lost hate? So far this has been one of the deepest shows on television. I’m sad that you spend your lives criticizing a work of art, maybe you should go read some philosophy, trust me, it will give you some insight on this show. The fact that you actually care enough about this show already shows that you are somewhat interested and intrigued. I’m sure on January 21st you will be one of those 9 million viewers. Get a life, or even better get off your ass and create something comparable to Lost…
9 million?????
If that’s all LOST is going to draw on their opening night, that show is in REAL trouble!
….a work of art???…………. a HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHA
this show is the furthest thing from a work of art!!!!!! the writing team is absolutely retarted and had no idea what they were going to do with the show from the start…If you wanna talk philosophy, Battlestar Galactica is ART!!! lost isnt even comparable!!!
Oh boy, look, another deluded fanboy resurfaces to try and talk sense into us.
I really hate to admit it, but I still do, sort-of care at least enough to begin the season. It is still the Mrs.’s favorite show, as much as she tries to deny it, so we will be there at the start, God willing.
Glad to “see” all of you (even BigJim, who is always so polite). Have a great Christmas.
But if it wasnt for the “fanboys” all you would do would be to sit home all day and grieve about how small your penis is.
Change the above to Have a great Christmas except for Joe Kellogg, who appears to have a penis infatuation.
I would also like to wish your very small penis a Merry Christmas.
Hmmm… This is quite an impasse. Most people here have problems with Lost PRECISELY BECAUSE they’ve read philosophy and beheld breathtaking works of art. And, they’d probably tell you that if you did the same you’d see why Lost does suck.
To go a step further, the fact that all the fan(boys) say things like “What’s up with all this Lost hate?” and “Don’t you guys have anything better to do?” is proof you’ve never been exposed to anything artistic. A huge part of any artistic and intellectual community is criticism. It’s integral to any progress, specifically in the sense that if somebody else ever tries to make a show like this again they can read this site first and see just how to not fuck it up so badly.
“What’s up with all this Lost hate? So far this has been one of the deepest shows on television. I’m sad that you spend your lives criticizing a work of art, maybe you should go read some philosophy, trust me, it will give you some insight on this show.”
haha there’s another one who has bought into all the “philosophy” and “deepness”. Just because the writers throw out some references to some random authors, works, or other pop culture references, people think that this show is some kind of intricate piece of work. The fact is the show just capitalizes on bozos like you who they know will spend hours on the internet searching for clues and easter eggs… i know i used to be one of those but luckily i got tired of being a fool.
are you sure that you’re done being a fool? because you certainly seem to remain a giant douche. kisses!
Did he say… ” a work of art ” ??
Hehe. 2009 is starting to look very funny.
This is the deepest show in television? For who? for 12 years old kids that have never watched television maybe!
Lame! but still going to watch every week because I am a sucker.
I think that brief statement sum up this site better than anything I have seen.
well you know it’s almost Lost season when the mindless sheep and fanboys start posting on non-tv or non-Lost forums about how excited they are about the new season.
I’m just having so much fun telling them the show is a pile of crap now and winding them up. The good thing is that now I’m feeling the vibe that more people are ready to quit on the show because of the ridiculous story lines.
It’s also hilarious how they are scanning the trailer over and over to find little clues about the upcoming season, coming up with conclusions based on the most pointless of details.
Like how S2 advertised that ‘they weren’t the survivors we thought they were… but we relearned what we knew from S1 in a slightly different context.)
Inorite? It’s hilarious that they are doing something about as pointless as what you’re doing right at this moment and enjoying it.
Those retards~
I only regret I will not be able to bash this next season. Predictions? OK, I think they might get a 15 million viewers episode, but it will decline and then jump up at the finale. Too much crap over the years and since everyone knows it’s over in 2010, why bother watching now? There will be no more answers, only more questions, more characters introduced that have nothing to do with season 1 (or the original premise). So they are coming to find out if Kate is Aaron’s mom, so what? Will that ruin the premise of the survivors? OK, they say, “there was a pregnant lady but she died giving birth”, big deal. If they don’t answer these questions, then it doesn’t matter to me.
1. What’s with the numbers?
2. What is the smoke monster?
3. Who are the others?
4. What is the whole deal with the island?
The wife is supposed to tape the season for me, so I won’t be able to do live commentary, but I don’t think I’ll be missing much.
Headed to Iraq in 10 days, CPT Preevyet on duty in Kansas (actually on leave at home in Virginia until 26 Dec)
Be safe man.
Ya, good luck man. I thought everyone was coming back from Iraq these days, your headed over there?
There is an agreement to get the rest of the combat troops out by December 2011, but I am going as an adviser to the Iraqi National Police, a “non-combat” role. We will have combat advisers there for some time to come. Of course, as we pull out of Iraq, we are beefing up Afghanistan.
I do know at least that I will see the last season, I have been selected for a tech career field and will go to school for about 18 months upon my return in December 2009. I’ll be back online in Season 6 for the final bashing.
CPT Preevyet
Take care man.
I think 15 million viewers is very optimistic. I doubt even the producers are thinking those type of numbers. They definitely could not hold that kind of audience last year, and I’m sure interest has ebbed even more since then.
Another sure sign of concern is YET another day and timeslot change for this upcoming season, as the network executives continue to wring their hands in trying to find a decent return for this hellaciously expensive show that fell out of the top 20 by the last 2 weeks of the season.
Cant wait for the best show on TV!
LOST will definetly pull in 15 mill for the premiere
They may not be looking entirely for a good season opener or a successful season for that matter. They are looking at something that is going to live forever in repeats and DVD sales. Gilligans Island is going into something like its 45th year, or Star Trek.
EPIC FAIL!! They didn’t even pull in 12 million. The non-hardcore fans are leaving in droves from this shitpile.
Of all the unknowns, one of the biggest issues is with the others. we don’t know anything concrete about their motivation or belief system, which is fine if they are the enemy but makes it mind numbing when the show focuses on Ben Linus
Whenever I watch ABC these days I keep the remote ready so that if a Lost promo comes on I can mute it out rather than listen to Jackass’ whiny “We’ve got to go baaaack!” Yeah, I guess we do, but don’t expect us to be happy about it. Abrams is a master of promotion, though not much else, but he doesn’t really seem to have his heart in it anymore. Same old Bugeyed Ben with all the (contradictory) answers, same old Locke finding new mysteries that he’ll never solve , same old spectacularly ineffectual Jack, and same old everyone else running in circles, literally and figuratively. Ratings ought to fall faster than Hurley should have sailed out of that helicopter last season.
ABC is expecting at least 10 million viewers per week. Anything less than that is unthinkable. They may be in for a surprise by week 5. Then, it becomes decision time.
Of course, its also unthinkable to the cast and staff of the show too. You ‘oughta hear what these guys say about themselves and the show. They actually believe they are the top-rated show on TV. I guess the real ratings don’t mean anything to them, so they just make some up to believe in.
The truth is, Lost has “lost” (heh heh) legions of fans on the island. Most people no longer bother with the show, the novelty wore off a long time ago. Some of the actors are also beginning to wear thin on the local people with their condescending attitudes and manner.
I think the show will probably get 12 million to start out, and be down to 9 million by week 5.
Just watched the Whale Wars marathon on Animal Planet. Real life drama on the high seas. Best show on TV!
I have a good feeling about this season everyone. Hopefully this season will be the one that gets the show canceled!
I SURE HOPE SO, DAWG! BUT THEN WHAT WILL YOUR SUPERIORITY COMPLEX DO WITH ITSELF?
aww sounds like someone is upset that his/her fave show might suck and get cancelled.
ooh! burn! nice zinger, monkey! yowza!
you seem to keep coming back for more so obviously you enjoy my comments.
anybody who thinks LOST will be cancelled is actually retarded
Interview with the smoke monster (funny, but caution strong language!)
http://www.toonio.com/play.php?vid=721
Well if that trailer was supposed to catch my attention, THEY FAILED MISERABLY.
I dont care what kate does
i dont care that claire might have died
i dont care if they take aaron way from her. GOD DAMN DO IT ALREADY, so maybe, just maybe, we could go on with the story! I am seriously considering NOT watching this season as season 4 sucked. (even the final episode did)
Me: I got a fat cock, im strokin’ it, and its gettin’ hard
Mrs. Meister: Slam them balls against my chin
Mr. Meister: Me too!
So far for common dignity.
Right, and God forbid I delete a crappy comment like that – then everyone cries censorship.
At least it wasn’t me this time…
The Meisters and the Teabags. I wanna ride – riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide the Tiger. That was a song by Jefferson Starplane, “Ride The Tiger”, I don’t know what it means but it seems appropriate.
Picking on the Meisters, not cool.
CPT Preevyet in Kuwait
You write kinda like a sissy.
I still care, still watch, and am going to enjoy the new season.
The cheese-meisters are forever linked to the drastic pitch to the nadir of this site, and by extension, the show. They all suck.
Ciao
I believe that this show is a directly analogous to religion. You see, Locke represents Jesus and the rest of the survivors are the shepherds (Jack Shepherd). Locke is constantly on a spiritual journey, as was Jesus throughout his life, and Jack, Kate, and Sawyer, along with the rest of the crew are helping him find the answers to all of his questions, whether they know it or not. Since Hurley is so driven by his weaknesses and insecurities he finds himself alone on this island that has placed him here, in my opinion, to find out who he really is so that when he returns home he can live a happy, bountiful existence. What do people do when they are lost (no pun intended) and have nowhere to turn? They look to God for their answers, and in this case John Locke is leading him there. Ben Linus is the God that they are all searching for, but in order for them to accept that they will need to sacrifice all they know and believe so that they will forever be able to share the life that he has created. Shortly after coming to this realization Jack will fire out a cleveland steamer on Kate, and Hurley will try to eat it.
Light it up, toke it, pass it to me now…
complete crap. get over it dude, its just a crappy, superficial american network tv show. fact is, you came up with a better explanation for it than the one jj has (if he even has one)…so if thats some consolation, you can feel good about being a tool.
…said BigJim, removing the cock from his mouth.
Dude, Big Jim is an icon on this site…lay off.
I’ve seen BigJim’s posts on this site for years. He is, and will remain, a giant douche. Try to see if you can remove your lips from his ass, though.
sounds like hrm doesn’t know how to respect one of the giants of the board…flame him…probablh a fanboy
It is amazing how many fanboys make it all the way to this site just to pick fights about the show. I mean, it’s just a stupid TV show, and yet they can hear the negative whispers across the internet and they end up posting here. It shows how immature these Lost fans are.
…says uncleM coyly, who shows tremendous maturity, character, and superiority by venomously attacking fanboys at an anti-television-show site.
don’t like what’s said here? why hang around? hmmmm?
I hang around mostly to see the replies to my posts, which are typically variations on yours. Sometimes they use the word fanboy, and nearly all of them posted by mindless, sheeplike drones who have little of importance to say. When I start seeing some independent thought here instead of this tripe, maybe I’ll start posting some serious shit. But right now I will continue to mock tools like you. Kisses!
you just proved my point.
I’m pretty upset that no one realized my religious spiel was a joke, mocking the show and all of you people. I guess nobody got to the cleveland steamer part
;(
Nobody cares if your puns were intended.
Oh my God, this site is a joke. Ok, so you hate LOST, then what? You won;t be able to convince the fans the show is bad. We like it. You are really the misater no-livers because you won’t get rewarded for your “efforts”.
We aren’t trying to convice you.
Yeah… See, I know it sounds weird, but grown-ups sometimes just like to discuss things; things that interest them and intrigue them and intellectually stimulate them. Lost’s ‘Hot to Not’ nosedive certainly is very interesting.
Don’t worry, you’ll understand it one day.
season 1: 16.1 million viewers
season 2: 15.5 milliion viewers
season 3: 14.6 million viewers
season 4: 13.4 million viewers
people care about it, more people are watching lost than going on this crappy site.
Many people voted for Bush, and many more believe that a guy named jebus has an ant-farm.
The ratio of genius to stupidity is a staggering pity.
Yeah, and the ghetto monkeys all voted for Hobama. But you are no genius either.
Poor, poor, white-trash.
What’s the matter, tough day?
Jerry Springer isn’t even hiring, what are you to do?
yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m still a majority in this country. just wait 4 years bitch.
You are absolutely correct. I’m certain that you don’t hear that often so please take it in.
The far majority of Americans are ignorant, poorly educated, even more poorly bred, white-trash delinquents.
I’m not sure how a singularity (e.g., one’s self) can be a majority, but alas you’re lost already….
Contemplate this Monsieur Lowest Common Denominator: “you be nuttin’ but low-speed and high-drag on that there nation of yours over yonder”.
Tyler – Can’t wait for your recap next week. They are almost better than a good episode of Lost. Here’s to hoping Lost isn’t a huge disapointment next week!
I was flipping through the channels tonite and stopped on the Lost season finale from last year. It was just at the point where sawyer jumped out of the chopper to “save everyone”. It all came flooding back to me, the enormity of the suckyness we are dealing with here. God help us all with the new season.
I happened upon USA Today’s expansive Lost preview last Friday, and what really took me back was Damon & Cuse’s “big questions will be answered” spiel followed by examples of “big questions” that only drooling fanboys care about (e.g. what Sawyer whispered before he jumped out of the helicopter). That’s NOT a big question! And the only people who THINK this is a big question are 11 year old girls, the cheeto-munchers over at the Fuselage, and Damon & Cuse.
I had actually forgotten what smug arrogant assholes these guys are.
Great comment, fucktard. We’re so glad you were able to make it back to the site to post more of your inane tripe.
Hey! My little buddy’s back! And you’re stealing my name too! Now change it to something else and post again! That never gets old and shows how really clever you are!
I would like to request that, in your next post, you use lots more exclamation points to convey your mock excitement.
Also, I would strongly advise removing that cock from your anus. I eagerly await your pretentious posts after this episode airs.
Raptus–don’t waste your time on this douchebag. He’s just another troll who live in his parents basement.
I don’t need your lame ass to defend me, fuckwit.
^ Faggot troll being a faggot troll.
Faggot yeah. I faggotly agree. I hate those faggy faggots. Faggoty fag.
I likes me some faggots! I like it when they let me suck them off. I also likes it when they get hard so that they can put their larege penis in my bototm.
It’s funny. If Lost is so sucky and you all don’t like it, then why do you watch? I’m sure you all realize that whether it sucks or not, if you tune in it will be successful. It will sell ad time. It will keep going. Geeze, the funny thing is that everyone I know who says they hate Lost watch it to critique it. Me, I think it’s entertaining, on a rainy day. I record them and watch when nothing else is on. It’s a little wishy washy on stringing out plots that just dead end and don’t have a conclusion, but I’ve seen worse.
I absolutely love this sight. As a Lost fan, not a fan boy, I can only agree whole heartedly with most of the criticism about the show. Lost is focused too much on silly relationships and outlandish shoot out scenes and questions that the writers have no intention on answering. But, it is entertainig, for good or bad.
Well I can say that I was a huge fan of this show for season 1, and after that peak it’s been all downhill for me. After last season I just couldn’t take the show seriously any more. I mean the frozen donkey wheel just sent me over the edge. Just think, a show that’s now about a moving, time traveling island, which moves by turning a donkey wheel… what can you say about that? How are you supposed to still take that show seriously.
I’m glad a friend of mine directed me to this site because it feels like you can’t bring up any negative criticisms of this show on any other lost related site (not to mention that I was a long time member of a lost forum and got banned for bringing up plot holes in the show). I can’t take reading about how much of a pair of geniuses D&C are, and how great this show is when it’s apparent that it is not.
If you think this season is going to be any better then you are very wrong. First of all the silly flashbacks and flashforwards are gone, but replaced by time travel. So in essence the time travel will be like real time flashbacks and flashforwards, and they will be used to make the die hard fans think of things like “oh remember that little insignificant detail in season 2? so that’s why it’s there! these guys think of everything!”.
Second this season will be more filler as always. Nothing more than seeing the overly dramatic Jack try to round up the troops and look for the island. Don’t expect anything more than seeing people act in ways that defy logic and common sense.
Oh and people who think this will get canceled probably won’t get their wish. The most ABC will do is bump it around in different time slots, because they know if they dump the show another channel like Fox would probably pick it up, even with the bad ratings. However, if the ratings for the premiere aren’t too good then you can expect to see some interesting changes.
But if the show really turns out to be “more of the same”, I think the drop in fan-base will be intolerable. I think they have to come up with something to jack the fans up. Even die-hard fans thought last season was an off-season.
The producers would have to be insane if they think they are “on the right track”.
“I had actually forgotten what smug arrogant assholes these guys are.”
LOL.
Okay so on with my comment. I thought the episode was pretty good, moved along quickly and even answered some questions. (ie, the time thing on the island.) What say you Lost Haters?
I just wanna know what the island is all about. After so many years of this silly game I feel kinda tired, but not knowing what the show was about would mean that watching it was a huge waste of time, so unless someone is so kind as to tell me the ending, I’m gonna suffer through it until the final credits. It’s really like a guest who was fun to be with the first few weeks but now he should leave but he kinda won’t. And what you found funny and exciting about him back then you find quite irritating now. Sorry for mistakes, ESL here.
The single worst thing about lost, in my estimation, is that the producers – writers don’t respect their audience. I can’t see why this show is still on the air, and Jericho was canceled.
Nobody cares about this crappy show anymore each episode is just made up with filler so they can squeeze another 20 seasons out of it. Also we dont care about the charachters anymore its old!
Please cancel this show for the good of humanity!
Good prediction here by UncleM:
I predict that Lost will finish this season with approximately 8 million viewers and next year will average about 6-7 millions! Talk about major failure! In season 1 it used to average 16-18 million viewers so in short yes nobody cares anymore!
Jeez there’s really no reason to fight over this. Some people like lost and others don’t. It’s just like anything other work of art (I say art because it is media, and media is art). Look at Bob Dylan, for instance. Some people obsess over him, others laugh at him. People just get so worked up about their opinions that they feel angry and the need to impose on others who do not feel the same as them. Let’s drop the bickering and just go on with our lives.
it’s sad that lost is getting so crappy. I had to laugh when I saw that they had to recreate the crash, it was the stupidest thing in the show.
I loved this show, thought it was amazing, but they are trying to squeeze things out of it, that you just can’t get anymore. People are tired and they should just have a really awesome ending and just finish the show and answer all of the questions.
I hated that they killed charlotte, and I hate the off-island stuff, and I hate the acting on this season. Everything going on. WHAT FREAKING HAPPENED, LOST?
Lost is a TV show not a walk of life, you guys need to simmer down and leave it be, who cares if people like it, who cares if it sucks, grow up get a life and come back to reality and for the person who created this website, you sir are a very sad person.
Lost Season 5 is definitely the best season. Time Travel may explain Richard’s aging, we see Jacob and his rival on the island, so much is explained.
